Taekwondo Korean Karate Classes
for Kids, Teens, Adults and Families
Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art and the national sport of South Korea.
In Korean, tae means “to strike or break with foot”; kwon means “to strike or break with fist”; and do means “way,” “method,” or “art.”
Thus, taekwondo may be translated as “the way of the foot and fist” or “the way of kicking and punching.”
During the Japanese occupation of Korea, there was an influence of Japanese Karate. As a result, modern Tae Kwon Do was born and today is also known as Korean karate. Both share similar colored belt systems, core martial art principles and codes of conduct.
Generally speaking, Japanese Karate is composed of 60% hand strikes/blocks and 40% foot/kicks while Taekwondo Korean Karate is composed of 40% hand strikes/blocks and 60% foot/kicks.

Taekwondo Korean Karate is known for its emphasis on kicking techniques including faster and higher kicks, which distinguishes it from martial arts such as Japanese Karate or southern styles of Chinese Kung Fu.
The rationale is that the leg is the longest and strongest weapon a martial artist has, and kicks thus have the greatest potential to execute powerful strikes without successful retaliation.
Taekwondo Korean Karate is a balance of long, medium and close-range fighting.

Have you always wanted to learn martial arts? Interested in learning self defense and getting fit, or wanting to improve your self confidence? Are you interested in martial arts but don't know where to start?
Taekwondo Korean Karate is the martial art for you. It is both a traditional and sport martial art with over 30 million people practicing Taekwondo Korean Karate in more than 156 countries. In 2000, Taekwondo made its debute as an official olympic sport.
We have 3 Taekwondo Korean Karate programs to set you on the right path to beginning your martial arts journey.
You will begin learning a system of blocks, kicks, punches, open-handed strikes and stances. These are perfected by practicing forms. As your skill set advances, you will transition to the Black Belt Club (BBC) where you will begin learning more advanced techniques which may include various take-downs, sweeps, throws, and joint locks.
In order to practice self defense, once you have learned the basics you will be invited to participate in self defense sparring (light contact sparring). Don't worry, sparring equipment is used for protection. This is an important exercise for you as it will prepare you for real word situations if you are confronted by a bully or an attacker. Practicing air punches and kicks or hitting and kicking target bags is not the same as when you put your skills to the test and practice with another student that actually moves, kicks and punches back!
Classes also include physical fitness training and stretching exercises required to warm up before practicing martial arts.
Meditation is an important component of martial arts training. Through meditation, individuals prepare the mind and body to react rather than anticipate. Meditation may be practiced before and after classes. It is a time to clear and quiet the mind from outside distractions, develop focused attention, and unify the class. The martial arts meditation is not associated with any religious or sectarian group.
You will also be introduced to martial art weapons like Bamboo Sticks, Bo-staff and Nunchaku. For kids, weapons training is introduced for educational purposes only. Our goal is for you to establish good focus, coordination and concentration. This training further improves and helps develop motor skills abilities.
As you continue on your martial arts journey, you may be interested in additional opportunities for our Black Belt Club members (BBC). These include:
Demo Team - Create martial art skits and show off your skills in public performances.
Tournament Team - Learn advanced sport sparring techniques and compete in olympic style WTF competitions .
Hyper Pro Training - Mix your martial arts training with acrobatics and learn amazing tricks.
